Insurance Reimbursement

At Persona Doctors, we provide patients with the highest quality care and maintain a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere during visits. To achieve this goal, our practice is designed on a fee-for-service model. We do not actively contract with insurance companies and payment is due at the time of visit. The majority of our fees are eligible for reimbursement through your out-of-network insurance benefits or healthcare savings account. We are happy to provide an itemized bill to file with your insurance provider or healthcare savings account.

Many of our patients have received full or partial reimbursement for our program costs.

Simple Direct Insurance Reimbursement

1. Persona Doctors’ physicians will provide you with a Letter of Medical Necessity.
2. Persona Doctors’ care coordinators will provide you with Coded Statements and Invoices.
3. You submit the signed Letter, Statements, and Invoices to your health insurance provider for direct reimbursement.

We Accept FSA Debit Cards

The cost of a weight loss program, when prescribed by our physicians to treat a diagnosed medical condition such as obesity, hypertension or diabetes, is a reimbursable FSA or HRA expense according to the IRS.

Many plan administrators consider the Persona Doctors program to be a qualified expense under these guidelines. By following the claim process above, you can submit the cost of the Persona Doctors program to your plan administrator for reimbursement.

Tax Deductible Weight Loss Plans

At Persona Doctors, any uncompensated fees that are not reimbursed by your health insurance provider can be claimed as a medical tax deductions.

According to the IRS, amounts paid by individuals for participation in a weight-loss program as treatment for a specific disease or diseases (including obesity) diagnosed by a physician are expenses for medical care that are deductible under the tax code. Please consult your tax advisor before submitting a tax return.
